Almost 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence at least once in their life (UN Women). This figure does not include other forms of abuse such as psychological, emotional, financial, and digital violence. Yet 60% never seek help. Of those who do, 90% never report the abuse to the police.

Barriers to seeking help include: fear of not being believed, shame and stigma, lack of information, digital surveillance by abusers, language barriers, and absence of local support services.

Sophia is here to change this. Seeking help can feel overwhelming. Sophia makes it easier by providing instant, anonymous, and judgement-free support, empowering individuals to take informed steps at their own pace – without putting their safety at risk.

Recognising harmful patterns in a relationship can be overwhelming and confusing. The Digital Safe is a secure, encrypted, and private space where you can store supporting documentation – such as screenshots, photos, notes, and recordings – without leaving a digital trace.

How it works: Ask Sophia in the chat to create your Digital Safe. She sends a one-time access link. Your key is hidden inside an image you choose – only that image can unlock your safe. If someone else tries to open the link later, it redirects them to Google.

Sophia was developed by Spring ACT, a Swiss non-profit harnessing technology to fight social injustices. Created with and for survivors, Sophia is designed in collaboration with domestic violence experts, legal professionals, and global local support organisations to provide reliable, culturally relevant, and secure assistance.
